A 60-year-old Ottawa woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to prescription drug trafficking and could face 25 years in prison, according to a news release issued by the office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom.

As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Connie Edwards pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy with intent to distribute prescription drugs.

One of the people Edwards allegedly sold drugs to died in 2009 after taking a combination of several prescription pain killers.

As part of the plea, Edwards admitted to selling drugs in Franklin County between 2007 and 2012.

Edwards is set for sentencing March 4, and prosecutors and the defense will recommend a 25-year sentence and a forfeiture of more than $600,000 in assets, according to the news release.

The case includes nine other co-defendants, who have either pleaded guilty or are awaiting trial.
