Lawrence man to stand trial in rape case

A Douglas County District Court judge Tuesday ordered a 32-year-old Lawrence man to stand trial in the alleged rape of a 24-year-old Lawrence college student.

At Tuesday’s preliminary hearing in the case, the alleged victim in the case testified that the man assaulted her after she had fallen asleep after attending a party in Lawrence on Oct. 7.

The victim said she awoke to find the man, who was an acquaintance of the victim, raping her.

The man is being held on a $75,000 bond.

A trial in the case is set for Jan. 9.
