Man linked to Hy-Vee shotgun incident faces aggravated robbery, firearm charges

A 29-year-old Lawrence man could face more than 20 years in prison after being charged in Douglas County District Court on Monday for allegedly brandishing a shotgun during an Oct. 18 robbery of another man outside of Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway.

Antonio M. Douglas faces one count each of aggravated robbery and criminal possession of a firearm following his arrest last week. Police had been searching for Douglas as a suspect in the Oct. 18 incident, in which multiple witnesses reported seeing a man with a shotgun outside the store around noon.

Douglas’ bond was set at $75,000. The aggravated robbery charge is a level-3 person felony that carries a maximum of 20 years in prison, while the firearm charge is a level-8 nonperson felony, punishable by up to 23 months in prison.

Douglas is currently on probation for a 2010 robbery in Douglas County.
