Max L. Dougherty, 77, was released from Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., on Tuesday, said Bob Hallinan, a hospital spokesman.

Dougherty was injured May 23 when he experienced an apparent medical issue while driving west on Sixth Street and struck vehicles waiting at a stop light. Lawrence Police Officer Charlie Stewart pulled Dougherty from his vehicle and began performing CPR on Dougherty before medics arrived.
