KU professor receives Budig award

Kansas University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has named a political science professor as the recipient of the Gene A. Budig Teaching Professorship Award.

Paul D. Schumaker, who has taught for 40 years at KU, will hold the title of Budig Teaching Professor for the 2012-13 academic year and will receive a $5,000 award.

The award honors an outstanding faculty member in the social or behavioral sciences who has made a profound contribution to teaching.

The professorship was established by a gift from Budig, who served as KU’s chancellor from 1981 to 1994, and his wife, Gretchen.
