Preservation group sets public events

The Lawrence Preservation Alliance is hosting two events in June for those interested in learning more about historic preservation.

The first event is a workshop on window restoration, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 2 at 1313 Mass., next to the Castle Tea Room. The event is designed for do-it-yourself homeowners and building repair professionals.

A second workshop is focused on providing information about listing a property on the National Register of Historic Places. That workshop is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 4 at the Center for Design Research, which is at 2544 Westbrooke Circle on Kansas University’s West Campus. Information about architectural styles, how to list properties and the benefits for the owner and the building will be provided.

Both events are free and open to the public. Registration, however, is required for the window restoration workshop. To register for the event, visit its website.
