• Dee Bisel, owner of Minuteman Press in Lawrence since 1993, has been named the Kansas City Executive of the Year by the Printing and Imaging Association of MidAmerica. Bisel began her career with General Printing & Paper in Topeka as a sales manager and landed a position with Hallmark six years later. She spent the next 15 years with Hallmark where she had responsibility for more than 800 employees as Hallmark’s first female production manager. She also serves on several local boards and has been a longtime volunteer.

• Marcia Epstein participated in the 45th annual conference of the American Association of Suicidology in Baltimore in April. AAS promotes research, training and the use of evidence-based practices to prevent suicide. Epstein is director of Headquarters Counseling Center in Lawrence and co-chair of the state suicide prevention committee.
