The Lawrence Sertoma club is hosting its annual barbecue contest on Saturday at Broken Arrow Park, 31st and Louisiana streets.

There is also a benefit poker tournament starting at 6 p.m. Friday in the park’s shelter house. Tickets to the tournament are $50 and available in advance at Minuteman Press, 501 Gateway Drive. If the event sells out at 96 players, the first prize will be $500. Proceeds go to the Schiefelbusch Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.

The barbecue contest includes 48 teams competing for $4,800 in prizes. The Wakarusa Fire Department will serve breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday at its station near the park. During the barbecue contest, attendees can sample the barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a $6 ticket.
