Input sought on Deerfield Park remake plans
Lawrence Parks and Recreation leaders are looking for input on how to remake Deerfield Park near Lawrence Avenue and Princeton Boulevard.
The department will host a meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 3 at Deerfield Elementary, 101 Lawrence Ave. City officials are seeking input for a new master plan for the 10-acre park. The city will have two concept plans for the park on display at the meeting.
The main difference between the plans is that one would replace a tennis court area with new restrooms and a pavilion. Both plans would include room for a small skate park, a walking trail, a multipurpose sports field, and a “natural playground” area.
A tennis/basketball court and the skate park area already have been removed from the park because the concrete surfaces had deteriorated. City officials plan to begin repairs at the park later this year.
