No charges filed in weekend arrests

Two people arrested in separate weekend incidents were released from jail after prosecutors declined to file charges Monday.

A 39-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 1700 block of West 19th Street on charges of domestic battery, aggravated battery and aggravated assault after she was accused of swerving a vehicle toward a man standing outside the residence after a physical altercation inside the residence, said Kim Murphree, a police spokeswoman. The man had jumped out of the path of the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

In a separate incident, a 30-year-old Lawrence man was arrested about 5 a.m. Sunday on charges of burglary, theft, battery and assault after he was accused of attempting to gain access to cars in a driveway in the 2700 block of Grand Circle. After residents inside the house confronted him, the suspect was accused of pushing a female victim. No one was injured.

Both could be charged later. The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects unless they are formally charged.
