The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council is hosting a workshop for those interested in applying for natural and cultural heritage grants.

This year, the Douglas County Commission is making nearly $300,000 available for projects that would help preserve sites that have historical, cultural or natural significance. The program is divided into major grant requests, which is more than $105,000, or targeted grants, which is less than $105,000.

The workshop, which will provide an overview of the application process, will be held on March 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the second floor of the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass.

Grant applications are due by April 20 and the Heritage Conservation Council hopes to make a recommendation on which grants to fund by late May or early June.
