Topeka man arrested for driving without license after fleeing police

A 28-year-old Topeka man was arrested early Monday morning on charges of attempting to elude a police officer, interfering with a police officer’s duties and driving on a suspended license.

Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman, said that police attempted to pull over the man in the 2400 block of Iowa about 4 a.m. after seeing that his license plate was covered with plastic. The man then fled on foot from he car, making it to the 2300 block of West 26th Street before officers saw him enter an apartment and arrested him.
