Kansas University has hired an administrator from Colorado State University to serve as its next director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Blaine Harding has served for the previous decade as director of advising, recruitment and retention for CSU’s College of Liberal Arts and as the university’s pre-law adviser. He started in his new role at KU on July 2.

He has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary communication from the State University of New York at Brockport and a master’s degree in 19th century American history from Colorado State.

The multicultural affairs office provides academic support, diversity education, and other programs and activities at KU and the surrounding community.

The Administrator of Multicultural Affairs needs much more than a degree to properly handle his job. I don't see any of that here!

We need people who are skilled in the ways of the world, and knowledgable from personal experience - not another person who has spent their past years director of advising, recruitment and retention for CSU’s College of Liberal Arts.

Who made this hiring decision? What languages does he speak? Where has he been in the world???

Dear KU student: Next time you bemoan the high tuition, consider that the administration is filled with people in similar, totally useless positions. How does someone in this position help you get a job when you graduate? I don't think a prospective employer will be impressed with "Sensitive to Multicultural Affairs" on your résumé.

In PC speak "Multicultural" = "Anything but White".

Poor thing, finding it hard being white are you?

So Jambor admits that the WASP has no culture?

I'm pretty sure that kansasplains1 is the reason KU needs an office of Multicultural Affairs. If you don't know the purpose of the office, don't comment.

You're slipping, FHNC. You forgot to put complex in parentheses. "Maybe" "another" "cup" "of" "coffee" "will" "get" "you" "back" "on" "your" "game".

KU needs to replace some of the professors they let go instead of this useless position.

WHY?! Should have hired a woman and enlisted her in the Women's Studies Program too.

Universities are inherently multi-cultural institutions, and I am not opposed in theory to having a director of multicultural affairs.

Problem is, I can never figure out what people in these positions actually do.
