The Lawrence Salvation Army is hosting a new fundraiser during the summer. Change for Change will take place during Thursday’s Sidewalk Sale on Massachusetts Street.

The local advisory board of the Lawrence Salvation Army will be handing out water on the southwest corner of Ninth and Massachusetts streets and the southeast corner of Eighth and Massachusetts. The water is free, but donations in The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles, which will be placed throughout downtown, are encouraged.

The fundraiser is part of the board’s effort to tell the community that The Salvation Army needs donations year-round and not just during the holidays when people most often donate to the organization.

Sounds very practical to me! Melted cookies and brownies is what you have in mind?

Get ready, they want a new building. Now we will have year around red kettles and the homeless on Mass St. looking for handouts.
