Get a grip

To the editor:

This is regarding the rec center, although I prefer the spelling “wreck.” It is just getting more amusing as the days go by.

Why don’t we just call it the “Wreck Center Theme Park,” build a couple of hotels, parking structures and a lazy river around the perimeter. Fence it all in, add a few rides and charge $75 to $100 a day.

Then we wouldn’t have to worry about who would pay for landscaping, gardeners, a couple hundred employees with benefits, the gas, electric and phones. Not to forget the grounds upkeep, separate from gardeners, the equipment purchases and upkeep, taxes and other unthought-of incidentals. Then maybe taxes wouldn’t have to be raised on all of us not-so-wealthy retirees and all of the other residents without an abundance of  extra cash.

Let us get a grip here and remember “want” as compared to “need.”
