Grain elevator to be rebuilt in Atchison

? A northeastern Kansas grain elevator damaged in an explosion that killed six people is being demolished.

KQTV reports that officials of Bartlett Grain Co. in Atchison expect the work to wrap up in a month. Bartlett Grain spokeswoman Julie Sally says the company then plans to begin reconstruction immediately.

The Oct. 29 grain dust explosion has been labeled an accident that originated in the main bin area. The blast killed four Bartlett employees and two grain inspectors. Two other people were injured.

Sally says Bartlett hopes to have the elevator rebuilt in time for this fall’s corn harvest.
