Another day, another incumbent seeking re-election in Lecompton.

Christy Mallonee, a member of the Lecompton City Council, filed as a candidate and paid the $5 filing fee Wednesday morning at the Douglas County Courthouse.

Mallonee, who will be 35 next week, joins two other council members campaigning to retain their three seats on the five-member council. Jimmy Wilkins filed Monday, and Jennifer Smith filed Tuesday.

Council members oversee municipal operations and government for the community of 666 residents northwest of Lawrence. The council meets two times each month, and members are paid $30 per meeting.

The filing deadline for candidates is noon Jan. 24. The general election is April 3.
