Woman, 40, to serve one year on probation for role in Baldwin City arson

A Douglas County judge sentenced a 40-year-old woman to serve one year on probation for a misdemeanor conviction related to a May arson case in Baldwin City.

District Judge Sally Pokorny also ordered Rose Mary Pettibon, who now lives in Doniphan County, to continue with mental health counseling and treatment she is undergoing. Prosecutors said she would be required to pay restitution in the case.

Pettibon pleaded no contest in December to criminal damage after she initially faced an arson charge for a fire May 24 at a Baldwin City residence.

“I just know right now I am getting the help that I need,” Pettibon said in court Monday.
