U.S. 59 reopens after accident blocked traffic

U.S. Highway 59 north of Oskaloosa is blocked Monday morning after a Jefferson County vehicle pulling a trailer rolled over, Sheriff Jeff Herrig said.

Herrig said at 9:40 a.m. no one was injured after the driver rolled the vehicle and that it was blocking both lanes of the highway about 2 miles north of Oskaloosa.

Traffic was being re-routed to a county road near the highway. It was a Jefferson County Road Department vehicle, and the county was sending another vehicle to help clear it from the highway, Herrig said. According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the highway reopened later Monday morning.
