Man charged in string of auto burglaries

A 23-year-old Lawrence man faces four charges, including two felonies, in Douglas County District Court in connection with his arrest Thursday after a string of auto burglaries at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of West 24th Street.

Cordero P. Riley was charged with two felony counts of motor vehicle burglary, one count of misdemeanor theft and one count of interference with law enforcement.

Police said they arrested Riley after receiving a call early Thursday reporting auto burglaries in progress. After approaching him, police said he fled on foot before being caught.

Police said several cars were entered or damaged in the incident.
