Douglas County Undersheriff Steve Hornberger said Friday that the department is continuing to investigate a “suspicious death” of a 39-year-old Topeka man whose body was found Thursday morning west of Lecompton.

He did not release any additional information on the death of the man, identified as Corey Brown.

His body was found near the BNSF railroad tracks in northwest Douglas County near the Kansas River. Brown was one of the managers at Hudson Liquor in Topeka, which was the scene of a robbery and homicide on Dec. 24.

Topeka police are assisting with the investigation.
