Oil supplies

To the editor:

This is in response to your Feb. 24 news story about President Obama being held responsible for the high price of gas. Why is it that, with all the calls for more oil-drilling and exploration, no one ever mentions that oil, gasoline and jet fuel are among the commodities most heavily exported  from the United States? We are producing lots of oil in this country but the free market sends it to the highest bidder.

Incidentally, in the case of environmental depredations like the contemplated Keystone XL pipeline, the logic is that we are supposed to endanger our water supply so that Canadian oil producers can enrich themselves by exporting more of their product.
