Man charged with threatening officers with a knife, breaking neighbor’s window

A 51-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Sunday night after he was accused of throwing a brick through his neighbor’s window and threatening two Lawrence police officers with a knife, according to Douglas County court records.

The incident was reported just after 7 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Louisiana Street, police spokeswoman Kim Murphree said. According to court records, prosecutors charged the man, Robert W. Schmitt, with two counts of an aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one felony count of criminal damage. A judge set his bond at $45,000.
