Free State diver Krieger advances to state finals

— Free State’s Dan Krieger advanced to the diving finals Thursday at the state high school swimming and diving championships. Krieger was in 12th place after the semifinals. The Firebirds’ Trevor Hillis was 24th in preliminaries and failed to advance.

The diving finals are schedule for 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Lawrence High and Free State swimmers will compete in the swimming prelims today at 4 p.m. at Hummer Sports Complex.

LHS senior Zach Andregg is seeded first in the 50 free style and 500 free, while FSHS junior Ben Sloan is the top seed in the 100 butterfly.

Other Lions and Firebirds will also compete in the 200 IM, the 500 free, the 200 free relay, the 400 free relay, the 100 backstroke, the 200 medley relay and the 100 breaststroke.
