KDOT awards two construction bids for Douglas County projects

The Kansas Department of Transportation has awarded bids for two projects in Douglas County.

RD Johnson Excavating Co. Inc., Lawrence, was awarded a $4.34 million bid for replacement of a bridge on East 23rd Street between Haskell and Learnard avenues. City officials have said they hope work will begin on the bridge in early April and be complete by September.

Hamm Inc. and Subsidiaries, Perry, was awarded a $938,218 bid for resurfacing Kansas Highway 10 (also known as the South Lawrence Trafficway), from the Kansas Turnpike to U.S. Highway 59.

R D johnson doing the bridge well that wont be done for about 5 years as slow as they work and they got to get more illegls up here so they have workers to do it dam wish theyd not use r d johnson look at all the stuff they have done so far it takes them way longer then it should

That western leg needs millions more to widen it to two lanes each way, with a median between.

Another million $$$ goes into the western leg. Taxpayers cannot afford more roads.
