A 28-year-old Lawrence man pleaded no contest Friday to a charge of aggravated sexual battery in Douglas County District Court.

Kyle A. Wright was originally charged with rape in November 2011 after a 24-year-old Lawrence woman alleged that he had sexually assaulted her at a residence in south-central Lawrence. Wright and the woman were acquaintances.

Prosecutors agreed to amend the charge to aggravated sexual battery, a felony that carries sentences from probation to 136 months in prison and a $300,000 fine, depending on criminal history.

Wright is scheduled for sentencing Feb. 21.
