Two city preps land Shrine Bowl invites

Lawrence High senior quarterback Brad Strauss and Free State High lineman Cody Stanclift on Wednesday were named to the East roster of the Kansas Shrine Bowl, an annual all-star football game that features the top high school talent from across the state.

Both were Class 6A all-state selections and helped lead their teams to the playoffs during the 2012 season.

The players are nominated by their coaches and voted to the teams by media members and coaches throughout the state. The Kansas Shrine Bowl is a non-profit charity which raises funds and awareness for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. This year’s game, which will take place on July 27 at Washburn University in Topeka, will be the 40th edition.
