“We can’t tolerate this anymore. These tragedies must end. And to end them, we must change.”
“Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?”
“‘Let the little children come to me,’ Jesus said, ‘and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’”
The previous four paragraphs are excerpts from President Barack Obama’s marvelous speech in Newtown, Conn., following the horrendous tragedy that occurred on Friday. My question is: Why is it so hard to believe that this can take place in a country where we legally dispose of a million children per year through abortion? Yes, Mr. President, and this is one of the few times I would agree with you, they are all our children. I would add one more Scripture verse seeing as you brought it up: “Before you were born, I knew you..” Jeremiah 1:5

Tax Corp USA $75,000 for every USA job sent abroad each year that job stays abroad. Tax every leveraged buyout scheme another $75,000 per job sent abroad. INSTEAD of providing the tax code that protects the profits as a result of those USA industries and jobs sent abroad.
No one can prepare for terrorism because no on knows if or when terrorism will strike. Look at all the tax dollars spent on crime fighting yet crime is still on the rise even in Lawrence,Ks.
Of course if 20 million unemployed had good paying jobs again there would likely be less crime and violence.
Massive home loan scams create crime and violence by putting millions out work and homes = depression and more crime.
Real good jobs = less crime and violence.
20 million jobs to replace the 20 million lost by way of leveraged buyout artists should fix the economy.
If guns were the answer the USA should be the safest place on earth. I say put people back to back at no less than $17.50 per hour instead.... and remove assault weapons from the retail market. Now the USA might be on to something.
The USA cannot afford massive unemployment.

I guess you can buy bullet proof backpacks now. Sounds ridiculus, but might be a good idea. Poor kids will have to start wearing bullet proof vests and backpacks to school.

Yes, you can buy bullet proof items, and there are no restrictions at all on the sales of bulletproof garments. On the site I found, most are designed to be worn underneath other clothing. But, I thought the slickest one was this denim jacket. It looks just like any other denim jacket, but it's bulletproof!

What us "anti-abortionists" find tragic is that people like you don't think that abortion on demand is a "horrific tragedy." Over 52 million children exterminated since Roe v. Wade. We see the unborn children as having the same right to live as the children in Newtown, CT. Unfortunately, our president does not.

I'm sorry, but again I find the topic of abortion a complete diversion to the more recent tragedy. Perhaps this is intentional on your part and the author's part as a means to stear away from better gun control measures or better mental health funding (to which you Conservatives have a propensity to gut at every turn, BTW) that this more recent tragedy has caused.
I see abortion as a worthy discussion to take, but not at this particular moment in lieu of a mentally unbalanced kid taking an assault rifle from his mother's hoard of guns that she collected along with food and water because she thought the economic apocalypse was coming, slaughtered his mom, 20 children, and 6 adults with that ridiculous assault rifle, some 5-6 bullets each, then turned it on himself.
You and the author can take your sanctimonious, righteous anti-abortion bologna somewhere else as a consequence. Putting aside the obvious differences between what one has been deemed lawful since R v. W verses the other, your ridiculous parallels between the two only demonstrate your own absurdities in this discussion.

No. Abortion is a tragedy just like kids killed by a mentally unstable man with a rifle. Both are horrible and ugly things. Americans don't surrender their rights because sometimes those rights lead to horrible and ugly things.
Anti-abortion legislation is no different than gun-grabbing legislation. Just different people set on violating our rights.
