Shawnee ? Free State High’s wrestling team placed ninth among 16 teams Saturday at the Shawnee Mission Northwest Invitational.

Sterling Ozark placed second for the Firebirds in the 285-pound weight class. Colton Steele (145) and Ben Soukup (160) claimed third-place finishes, and Maurice Jacobs was fourth at 132.

Freshman Quailan Gibler-Fowler won a pair of matches at 106.

“They competed extremely well and fought hard,” FSHS coach Mike Gillman said.

Next action for the Firebirds in Saturday at the Emporia Invitational.
