Lawrence family’s light display to benefit food bank

December 7, 2012

A Lawrence family will use its Christmas light display this season to help people in need of food in Douglas County.

Nightly through Jan. 1, Kent and Stephanie Fisher's home at 909 Stonecreek Drive will feature a display including 113 channels of LED lights, which will change color in sync with music that passersby can hear by turning their radios to 96.7 FM.

During the show, that station will also broadcast an announcement asking watchers to send a text message reading "justfood" to the number 80888, which will provide a $10 contribution to the Just Food food bank of Douglas County.

Just Food provides cooking and nutrition classes for low-income residents and administers federal food commodities programs in addition to operating a food pantry.

To date, Stonecreek Drive Christmas has raised $702.10 towards their goal of $1000. This includes $2.10 generously donated by two young children at their front door...a touching example of what it's all about. Visit their Facebook page for more info.
