LHS QB Strauss loses out on Simone Award

Lawrence High senior quarterback Brad Strauss, one of four finalists for the Thomas A. Simone Award, learned Tuesday that he and two other nominees lost out on the award to Blue Springs (Mo.) junior running back Dalvin Warmack.

Strauss was the only Kansas finalist for the award given to the top high school football player in the Kansas City area.

Staley (Mo.) senior quarterback Trent Hosick and Fort Osage (Mo.) senior QB Steven McBee were the other finalists for the Simone.

Eudora senior defensive lineman Nick Becker was one of four finalists for the Bobby Bell Award. The honor for the top small class lineman or linebacker went to senior Maliek Collins of Kansas City (Mo.) Center.
