Topeka — Lawrence High’s girls golf team won the Washburn Rural Invitational on Tuesday at Lake Shawnee, while Free State took third place in the five-team tournament.
The Firebirds’ Emily Bermel shot a 42 to take first place, and the Lions’ Abby Schmidtberger fired a 47 to finish second.
Lawrence High’s Quillen Eichhorn carded a 48 to finish fourth, and the Lions’ Attie Pennybaker also shot a 48.
LHS finished with a 194 team total, followed by Shawnee Mission East (214), Free State (218), Washburn Rural (228) and Basehor-Linwood (239).
