Water main break spurs detour on 19th Street
A broken water main will close the westbound lane of 19th Street near Haskell Avenue through Wednesday, the city announced Tuesday morning.
Jeanette Klamm, the city’s utilities programs manager, said traffic control devices are set up to detour westbound traffic between Maple Lane and Haskell Avenue. City utilities crews will be working to repair the 6-inch cast iron pipe that was installed in 1958.
The eastbound lane of 19th Street is open.
Westbound traffic at Maple Lane will be directed onto East Glenn Drive, then left on Cadet Avenue and left on East 15th Street to Haskell Avenue. Drivers who want to get back on 19th Street can follow Haskell Avenue south to 19th Street. The city has also notified customers in the area who will be affected.
