Firebirds first, Lions second at Olathe South swim quad

? Free State finished first with 442 points at the the Olathe South Quad Swimming and Diving meet Thursday in Olathe. Lawrence finished second with 362 points, winning seven events, Free State the other five.

Free State’s Courtney Caldwell won both the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle. Lawrence High’s Annie Odrowski won the 50 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, Heather Cistola the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke, Gretchen Frick the 200 freestyle, and Miranda Rohn the 100 backstroke. Free State’s Annie Soderberg won the 1-meter diving competition.

Lawrence won the 200 medley relay with Miranda Rohn, Frick, Cistola and Odrowski, while Free State won the 200 freestyle relay with Katie Kimbrough, Alexa Malik, Morgan Miller and Lucy Sirimongkhon-Dyck, and the 400 freestyle relay with Eliza Anderson, Miller, Sirimongkhon-Dyck and Caldwell.

Free State and LHS compete next weekend at the Sunflower League Championships at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center.
