FSHS soccer wins despite ejection

? Despite losing a player to ejection in the first half and needing to play the rest of the night a player down, Free State High handily dispatched Olathe South, 5-2, in Sunflower League soccer on Tuesday night at the Olathe District Activities Center.

Maddie Dieker scored three goals, and Rylee Feurst and Abbey Casady each had a goal for the Firebirds (8-1-2).

Free State led, 3-0, when its goalie drew a red card for a foul in the box with about 15 minutes left in the first half.

“We have a pretty solid group,” FSHS coach Kelly Barah said. “They weren’t going to get rattled by that. They just had to keep doing the things they did to get the 3-0 lead.”

Kylee Loneker and Hadyn Hutchinson each had an assist for Free State.

“It really was an amazing performance,” Barah said.

FSHS will host Olathe North on Friday.
