Bluegrass concert to benefit tornado-hit town

It’s great music for a great cause.

So say the organizers of a bluegrass benefit concert set for 2 p.m. April 22 at Abe and Jake’s Landing, 8 E. Sixth St., with 100 percent of ticket sales going to Red Cross disaster funds for tornado-ravaged areas of northeast Kansas. Tickets are $10. The event will feature three local acts known in the bluegrass community — more traditional The Midday Ramblers, comedic, quirky favorites the Alferd Packer Memorial String Band and veteran musician Rick Faris. Proceeds will go toward rebuilding Harveyville, which was damaged in a deadly tornado in March.
