An 18-year-old Lawrence man made his first appearance in court Friday afternoon after Douglas County prosecutors charged him with aggravated battery related to a March 31 incident.

Brian Lee Davis is accused of injuring a 19-year-old woman around 1:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of Tennessee Street, according to the charges and a Lawrence police report. He was arrested shortly after the incident was reported but posted $7,500 bond and was given notice to appear in court Friday. Prosecutors filed the aggravated battery charge later. His next hearing is scheduled for May 21.
