Gov. Sam Brownback warns of storm dangers

? Gov. Sam Brownback is urging Kansans to prepare to take shelter before storms hit their communities.

His advice comes as the National Weather Service issues numerous tornadoes watches across the western and central portion of the state. As many as 10 tornadoes already have been reported. So far, there have been no injuries and little damage.

Brownback says far too many injuries are caused by people waiting to take shelter. He says the best place to go when severe weather strikes is a basement or storm shelter. But if those options aren’t available, head to an interior room or hallway on the building’s lowest level.

He also urged Kansans to listen to television and radio broadcasts. And if available, he advised people to turn on their NOAA weather alert radios.
