LHS boys, girls 4th at Topeka Relays

? Blake Hocking won the shot put and Alex Ballard won the pole vault to help Lawrence High’s boys track and field team place fourth Friday in the Topeka Relays. Hocking threw the shot 60-10, and Ballard went 13-0 in the pole vault.

The Lions’ girls team also finished fourth as Grace Morgan took second in the 1600 and Caitlin Broadwell took second in the triple jump.

The LHS boys 4×800 relay team of Josh Shump, Reid Hildenbrand, Nathan Stringer and Simon Fangman placed second. And the LHS girls 4×800 relay team of Leah Gabler, Michala Ruder, Brooke Braman and Riley Shook, and the girls 4×400 realy team of Marissa Pope, Gabler, Ruder and Monica Howard also placed second.

The Lions’ boys totaled 74 points and trailed Topeka Seaman (112), Manhattan (112) and Topeka High (80) in the nine-team meet. The LHS girls totaled 73 points, trailing Manhattan (114), Leavenworth (102) and Topeka High (87).
