FSHS softball sweeps Leavenworth

? Meredith Morris pitched a three-hitter in a 12-0 victory, and Kaley Delg allowed six hits in a 23-4 triumph as Free State High’s softball team swept a doubleheader from Leavenworth on Thursday.

Samantha O’Brien was 6-for-9 with three doubles, and A’Liyah Rogers was 5-for-9 with a double in the twinbill.

Remington Samuels was 3-for-4 with two doubles in the opener.

“What I was probably more pleased with than anything was our overall pitching,” FSHS coach Lee Ice said.

Neither Morris nor Delg walked a batter.

“We’ve only walked four people in four games so far,” Ice said.

The Firebirds (2-2) will entertain Olathe East on Tuesday.

“This was a good opportunity for us to gain some confidence going into Olathe East next week,” Ice said. “We just have to be fundamentally ready to play on Tuesday. We’re just trying to get better every game.”
