Lawrence Public Library Foundation reports fundraising progress

The Lawrence Public Library Foundation has raised $780,000 toward its $1 million goal to help fund a major expansion and renovation of the downtown library.

During a recent reception, the foundation recognized gifts from the Capitol Federal Foundation, and donors Matt and Alice Neuman of Lawrence

The foundation also has unveiled a new addition to the library’s lobby, a 12-foot plexiglass tower dubbed Stacks of Stories that will be filled with books as the fundraising campaign gets closer to its goal. City voters in November approved an $18 million bond issue to expand and renovate the library. The foundation pledged to raise $1 million in private funds to supplement the public funding.
