Preparations for Oktoberfest are on schedule, with about 20 volunteers cooking and peeling 300 pounds of potatoes Thursday afternoon for potato salad.

Chairperson Ellen Shobe said this year’s Oktoberfest will be a little different because food will be on sale a la carte.

“It will allow people a more-affordable way to try a variety of foods,” Shobe said.

Oktoberfest runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky. Admission is free.
