Douglas County authorities on Tuesday morning brought a 21-year-old Belton, Mo., man to Lawrence in connection with a 2009 robbery on the Kansas University campus.

Last October, law enforcement officers and board members of Douglas County Crime Stoppers asked for the public’s help in finding Mikael Dantae Karlyle, after they identified him as a suspect accused of robbing a student at gunpoint on April 29, 2009, in the parking lot outside McCollum Hall.

According to the robbery charges, prosecutors accuse Karlyle of using a handgun to steal marijuana from a man on campus.

Karlyle was brought to the Douglas County Jail on Tuesday morning from the Shawnee County Correctional Facility, where he had been since he was arrested in June in relation to an aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated assault case there, according to Shawnee County District Court records. He faces an Oct. 24 trial in Topeka in that case.

District Attorney Charles Branson said Karlyle was brought to Lawrence to appear in court Tuesday afternoon, where a judge has set his bond at $25,000, on one count of aggravated robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery for the alleged incident on the KU campus in 2009. According to court records, Douglas County prosecutors are also trying to revoke a probation term Karlyle received here in 2009 related to a misdemeanor criminal use of weapons and drug possession case.
