19-year-old Ottawa man sentenced to prison for his role in burglary, robbery in Lawrence

A Douglas County judge sentenced a 19-year-old Ottawa man on Thursday to serve 32 months in prison for his role in a Lawrence robbery earlier this year.

Trenton T. Rowsey pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit robbery and aggravated burglary, admitting he participated with others in a Jan. 31 robbery of a Lawrence man who lived in the 800 block of Hilltop Drive. Lawrence police had alleged the man was held at gunpoint as the suspects stole marijuana, cash and an iPod.

District Judge Paula Martin sentenced Rowsey to serve 32 months on each count. He will serve the sentences at the same time.

A co-defendant Mikael Englund, 22, of Richmond, still faces charges. Douglas County prosecutors initially accused him of participating in a scheme to rob the same victim twice in a one-month period, but prosecutors since dismissed one of the cases.

Martin gave Rowsey credit for the four months he’s already served in jail.
