Lansing Free State High’s volleyball team went 1-1 to open its season Thursday at Lansing.
The Firebirds fell to Topeka Seaman, 15-25, 20-25, then came back to beat Lansing, 25-15, 26-24.
“We had some first-game jitters there,” Free State coach Nancy Hopkins said. “We have a young squad, but they got it together.”
Hopkins cited the standout play of Shelby Holmes, Kailee Dudley and Kylie Dever.
