State soccer seeds set for LHSFSHS

Free State High will host Topeka and Lawrence High will entertain Junction City in first-round Class 6A state soccer playoff games Tuesday.

FSHS (8-6-2) is seeded second in the Central Regional 2 and will face seventh-seeded Topeka (2-14) at 7 p.m. at FSHS.

LHS (6-7-3) is the No. 3 seed and will face sixth-seeded Junction City (3-11-2) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at LHS.

Tuesday’s winners will meet Thursday at FSHS for the regional championship.

If both local teams can win, always a big if with local soccer, that would produce a rematch of this year's 0-0 tie game. In the State Tournament, there will be a winner, even if it must come down to a penalty kick shoot-out.

Good luck to both teams in their first game.
