‘Real Men, Real Talk’ the topic of Jana Mackey lecture

Nationally recognized activist and educator Tony Porter is set to deliver this year’s Jana Mackey lecture, “Real Men, Real Talk.”

The talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday at Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd.

Porter is the co-founder of A Call to Men, an organization dedicated to ending violence against women.

He has worked with a number of organizations, including the National Football League and the National Basketball Association.

Porter is the author of “Well Meaning Men … Breaking Out of the Man Box — Ending Violence Against Women,” and was a guest speaker on the status of women at the United Nations.

The lecture series remembers Jana Mackey, a former Kansas University law student and women’s rights advocate who was killed by her former boyfriend in 2008. The event is free.
