• Buckle Inc. announces that Cameo Felipe has been named manager of its Lawrence Buckle store. Felipe began her career with the Buckle in 2009. She was a management trainee at the Emporia Buckle location before being named manager of the North Town Mall Buckle store.

1 Chris Armstrong, owner of Travel Leaders, and travel consultant Dave Bonnel have returned from Las Vegas, site of the 2011 Travel Leaders National Meeting and the top domestic destination being booked by Travel Leaders nationally this fall. The annual convention drew more than 600 travel agents and industry representatives. The meeting’s theme was “Formula for Success.”

• EMR Inc. of Lawrence was named one of two recipients of the Society of American Military Engineers 2011 Small Business Award. The award is presented to a company for use of innovative technology or management to achieve outstanding results in work completed for the Army, Navy and Air Force; company support for the professional development of its employees through participation in SAME education and training activities; and participation small business conferences. Connie Cook, CEO of EMR Inc., will travel Wednesday to Washington, D.C., to accept the award.

• Chris’ Corner Quilt Shop and Brenda’s Machine Quilting, 3593 N. Old U.S. Highway 59, Ottawa, will host a free will donation luncheon to benefit The Willow Domestic Violence Center on Saturday. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. All proceeds will go toward Willow, which serves Franklin, Douglas and Jefferson counties. Advocates from Willow will be available with information about programs and services. Also, Project Lydia, a mission based in Lawrence that works with abandoned and abused women in Uganda, will have handmade jewelry, baskets and other items for sale at Chris’ Corner Quilt Shop, from Friday through Saturday. All proceeds from the sale will go toward Project Lydia.
