Immediate needs

• Family Promise of Lawrence is in need of a small group of volunteers to help them with some cleaning and organizing of their Day Center on the evening of June 7. Only four to five volunteers are needed, and it would be a perfect opportunity for a family or a small group of friends. If you are available to help with these tasks, please contact Samantha Snyder at 785-845-9261 or samantha@lawrencefamilypromise.org.

• Kansas Lyme Fighters Inc. is looking for volunteers to help with their 1-Mile Walk and 5K Run for Awareness from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 11. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks for the event, which will take place at the Lawrence Rotary Arboretum Park, south of the intersection of Wakarusa Drive and Kansas Highway 10. There are several volunteer shifts available. Please contact Peninah Blumhagen at 785-248-3504 for more details.

• The 2011 Tour of Lawrence is in need of volunteers for its cycling events July 1-3. Volunteers will help set up and tear down the race routes, act as corner marshals, and so much more. All volunteers will be provided with T-shirts, meals, and lots of fun for what promises to be an exciting race! Numerous shifts are available, so you only need to give a few hours of your time to be a part of the race crew. Find out more about specific volunteer needs and shifts by visiting touroflawrence.com/volunteers.html or by contacting the 2011 Tour of Lawrence Volunteer Coordinator, Lauren James at volunteer@touroflawrence.com.

• Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at Iowa Street and Bob Billings Parkway, is seeking eight or nine volunteers to assist as lesson leaders at their Vacation Bible School from June 20-24.
