Annual Master Gardeners tour set for June 4-5

Some of Lawrence’s unique gardens will be on display June 4 and 5 as part of the Douglas County Extension Master Gardeners garden tour.

The event will showcase six private gardens around Lawrence, with each one exhibiting a different style and personality. Among the gardens are a backyard water garden, an enchanted garden and a smart garden complete with worm farm and other timesaving ideas.

The tours are open to the public. Tickets are $10 when purchased on the day of the tour or $8 when purchased in advance from local garden centers or the K-State Research and Extension – Douglas County, 2110 Harper St.

Strollers and pets are not allowed. The tours will run from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. June 4 and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. June 5. The tours will be held regardless of weather.

In addition to the garden tours, educational presentations are also scheduled at the K-State Research and Extension – Douglas County.

Visitors can explore demonstration gardens and browse a plant and craft sale.

Proceeds from the tour support Master Gardener educational programs including a garden help line. For more information, contact tour chairman Ruth Gibbs, 843-6340, or the extension service, 843-7058.
